It’s been a long time since I posted—couldn’t believe just how long! And the world has changed a lot.
Happily, it is still changing and conferences are opening up.
This past weekend I was at the Pikes Peak Writers Conference, and it was wonderful to be among my people again! Books and stories and people and shared experiences were all around! People were excited (and then retreating for a break), learning, growing, and all the rest.
Jenny Kate did a great job as the Conference Director and with GOAL! and sports themes scattered throughout, I think there was a lot of learning to be shared.
Special shoutouts to Karen Fox and Jodi Anderson/Dawson, who did a lot of the caretaking, Laura Hayden who kept everything moving along, Torie Fox who answered all the lost questions, and Pam McCutcheon who talked stories. And all the other PPC I met in the hallway!
I also had good chats with Lucienne Diver of The Knight Literary Agency, Jane Friedman of the wonderful industry knowledge, Carol Berg, whose books I’ve always loved, Steve Saffel of Titan Books and others I can’t recall at the moment.. And Naima Simone and Mark Lefebre gave inspirational speeches. (I missed Jane’s)
So I think it was a great start to get back into the writing life, and hope to do more soon!
And it has inspired a few more posts as well! :)
Good luck and have fun as the world is opening up.
